Our U18 football team reached the final of the County Cup, which is a truly impressive achievement, reflecting the talent and consistency this squad has demonstrated throughout the season.
In a closely contested final, the boys faced a strong and organised side from Ivybridge. The match began with a significant challenge as the opposition claimed an early two-goal lead; however, our players refused to be deterred.
Showing immense character, the team fought their way back into the game just before the break. The breakthrough came via a commanding header from Noah L, who connected perfectly with a corner to bring the score to 2-1 and shift the momentum firmly in our favour.
The second half saw our side play some of their best football of the tournament. The boys dominated large periods of play, showing great composure and creativity as they hunted for an equaliser. Despite their relentless pressure and several close opportunities, a clinical breakthrough eluded them and the match finished with a narrow 2-1 defeat.
A special mention must go to Jack W, who was named Man of the Match for a commanding performance in the center of the pitch. Jack’s ability to control the tempo of the game and break up play from midfield was outstanding.
While the result was not the one they hoped for, the team should be incredibly proud of their journey. To finish as runners-up in the County Cup is a remarkable feat, and the grit they showed in fighting back from a deficit is a testament to their spirit as a squad.
Well done to the entire team on a historic and hard-fought campaign.
