Student Support Fund

A Churston education should be open to every child who earns their place here - regardless of their family's financial circumstances.

Talent shouldn't be limited by circumstance

We believe, genuinely, that financial circumstances should never stand between an able young person and an excellent education. Social justice is one of Churston's five core values - and this isn't just something we say. It shapes the decisions we make, including how we support families who need a little extra help.

If your child has earned their place at Churston, we want to make sure they can take it up, feel fully part of school life, and have every opportunity to flourish. We offer financial support discreetly, fairly, and without judgement. You'll never be made to feel that asking for help is anything other than the right thing to do.

What we offer, who it's for, and why it matters

Who can apply

Support is available for families where financial need can be demonstrated. If your child has been offered or is likely to be offered a place at Churston, and you're concerned about the costs associated with school life, we encourage you to reach out and have a conversation with us.

What support is available

Funding can contribute towards uniform, equipment, school trips, and other costs associated with taking a full part in school life. We want every Churston student to have the same opportunities - and we'll work with you to make that happen.

How it makes a difference

The difference between a student who feels like a full member of the Churston community and one who feels on the margins often comes down to access. Financial support isn't a handout - it's an investment in a young person's confidence, belonging, and future.

Support for Sixth Form students

If you're considering Churston for Sixth Form, financial support doesn't stop at Year 11. 16–19 bursary funding is also available for eligible Sixth Form students, designed to help remove financial barriers to post-16 education. This funding can support students with costs such as travel, study materials, and other essentials. Specific bursary amounts and eligibility criteria are confirmed with our finance team - please get in touch to find out more.

The first step is a private conversation with our school. There's no lengthy formal process to begin - just get in touch with us directly, and a member of our team will explain what's available, what we'd need from you, and how to take it forward. We keep all enquiries completely confidential.

Support can be used for a range of school-related costs, including uniform, PE kit, stationery and equipment, school trips, and any other expenses that form part of a full Churston education. We assess each application individually to make sure the support is genuinely useful to your family.

Completely. Information shared with us in connection with an application is treated with the strictest confidence and shared only with those at the school who need to know in order to administer the support. We're committed to making sure no student is ever made to feel singled out or different as a result of receiving financial help.
