Beyond Churston

Leaving Churston is not an ending - it is a beginning. We prepare our students for a world that demands resilience, creativity, and the capacity to keep learning.

We prepare students for the world, not just exams.

Exam results matter - and at Churston, our results are exceptional. But results alone don't secure a place at a great university, land an apprenticeship, or launch a career. What sets our students apart is the preparation that sits alongside the academic work: understanding their options early, building a profile that reflects who they really are, and approaching applications with clarity and confidence. Our Sixth Form team works with every student individually to map out their next steps, whatever form those steps take.

How we help you get there

Aiming high means something different to every student. Our careers and futures programmes are built directly into the Sixth Form experience so that nobody has to navigate their next steps alone.

Dedicated UCAS support formally begins in Year 12

We guide students through personal statement drafting, reference preparation, and interview techniques.

With you for Oxbridge & elite preparation

For students aiming for highly competitive universities, we provide specialist preparation, including mock interviews, extended reading guidance, and admissions test support.

Getting the right support for degree apprenticeships

University is not the only outstanding next step. We support students exploring degree apprenticeships and school leaver programmes with the exact same rigour as UCAS applications.

Thinking about a future with careers and CEIAG

Careers guidance is an integral part of life here. Students have access to individual career appointments, employer networking events, and direct industry advice.

A community that stays with you

Leaving school does not mean leaving our community. Churston Together is the community-facing heart of our school, connecting current students with alumni, local businesses, and charities. Through this active network, former students and local partners return to help our young people take their next steps with confidence, offering mentorship, industry insights, and real-world opportunities.

Quick answers to our most common questions.

UCAS preparation begins in Year 12, well before the application window opens. We help students research their options early, and formal personal statement support begins in the spring and summer term of Year 12, so students are well prepared ahead of the autumn deadline.

Yes. We have a strong track record of supporting Oxbridge applicants and work closely with students who are considering applications to Oxford or Cambridge. Support includes guidance on course selection, personal statement writing, Admissions Test preparation, and mock interviews. We also take advantage of access schemes and outreach programmes offered by the universities themselves.

Absolutely. Careers guidance is built into the Sixth Form experience at Churston, not bolted on as an afterthought. Students have access to individual careers appointments, employer events, and guidance from staff throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
