Churston Together Fund

At Churston, we are proud of the opportunities and experiences that make learning meaningful. From enrichment activities to modern facilities, every student benefits from a school that goes beyond core teaching. The Churston Together Fund helps ensure that these opportunities are available to all students, now and for generations to come.

The funding landscape
8.5%
A Decade of Squeezed Budgets
Government funding per pupil fell by 8.5% in real terms between 2009–10 and 2019–20, putting sustained pressure on schools’ ability to invest beyond the basics.
£1/day
A Small Gift with a Big Impact
Our suggested contribution of £1 per school day helps protect trips, clubs, and enrichment for all. Many families choose to give this way - a simple, meaningful way to support the Fund.
15 years
Less Funding, Greater Expectations
Schools like Churston are now financially worse off than they were 15 years ago, even as expectations around curriculum, support and enrichment have continued to grow.

How your support helps

Supporting the Fund directly impacts students’ experiences and the school environment, turning ideas into everyday realities.

Learning resources and equipment

From up-to-date textbooks and specialist science apparatus to Chromebooks and subject-specific software, high-quality resources keep learning active, engaging and relevant. The Fund helps us replace and upgrade equipment when we need it, so teachers are not held back by outdated materials and students can work with the tools that match their ambition.

Enrichment experiences

Trips, clubs and workshops are where confidence grows, interests deepen, and our values come to life beyond the classroom. Your support through the Fund helps us to keep a rich programme of enrichment accessible – from residentials and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to creative clubs, visiting speakers and curriculum-linked workshops – so that as many students as possible can take part, regardless of circumstance.

School improvements

The Fund enables us to refresh, improve and update key spaces - from libraries and study areas to specialist classrooms and social spaces - creating welcoming, modern and fit-for-purpose areas. Over time, these projects transform the daily experience of school, giving our students spaces that they can feel proud of and inspired by.

Maximise collective impact

Small, regular contributions from many families quickly add up to something powerful. By pooling support through the Churston Together Fund, we can plan confidently, commit to long-term projects and respond quickly when new needs or opportunities arise – creating changes that no single gift could achieve on its own.

The Churston Together Fund is already helping us turn good ideas into everyday realities for our students.

Case Study: The Cube

Recent support from families has helped us reimagine the Cube - a space at the heart of school life that many students use every day. Funding has contributed to improved study areas, flexible seating and updated resources, making it easier for students to work independently, collaborate with friends, or simply find a calm place to focus. It is a tangible example of how small, regular gifts to the Fund combine to create everyday change that benefits all.

A small, regular gift makes a real difference

We know every family’s circumstances are different, so these are just suggested amounts for contributing to the Fund:

  • £16.25 per month - £1 per school day
A simple, meaningful way to give regularly, supporting enrichment and projects that benefit all students.
  • £32.50 per month - stepping up to help others
For families who are able to give a little more, this quiet “pay it forward” option helps to enhance opportunities for all students - anonymously and without expectation.
  • Or choose your own amount
Contribute what feels right for your family.

Many families choose to give regularly. Every gift, large or small, helps create a powerful, shared impact.

Make your support go even further

If you are a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid box allows Churston to claim an extra 25% on donations to the Fund, at no extra cost to you.

For example: £16.25 becomes just over £20 for the school; £32.50 is worth more than £40 in real terms.

The Gift Aid declaration is part of our secure online form and only needs to be completed once.

Participation matters more than the amount

We recognise that families support Churston in many different ways - financial giving is always optional.

  • Some families give regularly to the Fund
  • Some give occasionally
  • Others contribute through volunteering, mentoring, attending events or championing the school in the community

All contributions strengthen what Churston can provide. Together, they create a meaningful, shared impact and help make more possible.

Churston Together celebrates the ambition, generosity and strong sense of community that makes Churston exceptional.
