Getting to Churston

Our students travel to us from across Torbay, the South Hams, and beyond. Whether by public transport, our dedicated school buses, or by car, here is everything you need to know to arrive safely.

Where to find us

Churston Ferrers Grammar School
Greenway Road, Brixham, Devon, TQ5 0LN

Visiting the school

If you are visiting us during the school day, please head directly to the main reception to sign in. Parking on-site is limited, but visitor spaces are generally available. If you are attending a larger open event or parents' evening, please follow the specific parking instructions provided in your event invitation.

A straightforward, safe route across Torbay

For many of our students, the public Number 12 bus service is the easiest way to travel. Running a direct route between Brixham, Torquay, and Newton Abbot, it provides a reliable and frequent service.

To ensure our students' safety at the end of the school day, the local authority arranges for these buses to come directly onto the school site. This means our students can board safely and comfortably without having to navigate the main road bus stops in large numbers.

Serving the South Hams and beyond

For students travelling from further afield, a dedicated private school bus service is run on our behalf by AB Coaches.

  • The Route: Buses run from Newton Abbot and Ashburton, via Totnes, with scheduled stops in Buckfastleigh, Ipplepen, Littlehempston, and Stoke Gabriel.
  • The Timetable: Buses are scheduled to arrive at Churston at 8:35 am, and leave the school site at 3:50 pm.

How to book your place
Because this is a highly popular service, buses are generally full and places are strictly allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We strongly recommend contacting AB Coaches as early as possible to secure your child's seat.

Traveling by car

If you are dropping your child off or picking them up by car, please be mindful of our local residents and the heavy flow of bus traffic on Greenway Road. We ask all parents to park safely and legally, avoiding the main school gates and designated bus turning areas to keep the arrival and departure process smooth and safe for everyone.

The owners of the Railway Inn have kindly confirmed that they are very happy for Churston parents to use their pub car park, for free, as a safe drop-off and collection point at the start and end of the school day. This is a safe location, a short distance from the school.

Walking and cycling

For students who live locally, we strongly encourage walking or cycling to school. It’s a great way to build independence, start the day with fresh air, and support our core school value of sustainability. Safe cycle storage is available on-site.
