Open Evening

Our open events are designed to be relaxed and informative. You will get a genuine feel for the culture here, understand our expectations, and see the environment where you will spend the next two years.

Come and see us for yourself.

Moving into the Sixth Form is a significant step, especially if you are joining us from another school. Our Open Evening is designed to help you get a genuine feel for our culture, explore our facilities, and start making confident decisions about your A-Level subjects.

You will have the chance to tour the dedicated Sixth Form Centre, hear from our leadership team, and ask your questions directly to the teachers who will be guiding you over the next two years. Most importantly, you will meet our current students, who can give you the honest, unfiltered truth about Sixth Form life and the transition into Year 12.

Open events

We hold a dedicated Sixth Form Open Evening every autumn, alongside opportunities to visit throughout the year. Details of our next event are below.

  • Date: Wednesday 13th November
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Churston Ferrers Grammar School

Unlike Year 7 admissions, Sixth Form applications are made directly to Churston, rather than through the local authority. We welcome around 50–60 external students into Year 12 every year. You can find full details of the application process on our main Sixth Form Admissions page.

To join the Sixth Form, students must achieve a minimum of a Grade 6 in five GCSE subjects, as well as at least a Grade 5 in both English Language and Maths. Some specific A-Level subjects may also have their own individual grade requirements.

Absolutely. We hold dedicated Sixth Form open events during the year where you can explore the dedicated Sixth Form Centre, meet Mr Shellum and the team, and speak to current students. If you can’t make an open event, use the contact form above to enquire about a personal visit.
