Why join the Sixth Form at Churston?

With an impressive range of A Level options and a welcoming and vibrant culture, Churston’s co-educational Sixth Form is a brilliant place for post-16 students to be.

Where educational quality meets wellbeing

As a grammar school with a commitment to scholarship, Churston is a fantastic choice for young people seeking to excel. Just as important, though, is our spirit of kindness and community. We create the supportive conditions our students need to grow in confidence, and to gain the skills to drive their own learning.

The start of something remarkable

Discover what your first year at Churston really looks like - from finding your feet and making lifelong friends, to discovering what you are truly capable of.

How Churston gets it right

As a mixed-sex grammar school, we offer a welcoming, inclusive setting where students’ social wellbeing matters as much as grades. It’s a fantastic place for 16-18 year olds to benefit from a rich and rounded experience.

Course choice

We present a brilliant range of courses, with 25 A Levels to pick from. Plus, students can take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), a self-guided project on a topic of their own choosing.

Student freedom

Self-responsibility is a big part of the Churston way. From making space for individual learning styles to allowing students to wear their own clothes, we’ve built the experience around young people’s needs.

Great outcomes

Churston has an excellent record of students securing their desired next destination, including university places (including many at Russell Group institutions) and high-quality apprenticeship positions.

Excellent resources

We provide the resources our students need to succeed, including course materials, access to our high-quality facilities, and an individual Chromebook to use for the duration of their studies.

Part of a tight community

A young person’s journey through secondary school is about so much more than their grades. By supporting students, hearing their voices, and satisfying their individual needs, we help to shape confident and well-balanced young people ready to contribute positively in the wider world.

Individual attention

Our Sixth Form Team and expert tutorial staff work together to provide tailored support and guidance. They really do get to know every student’s needs.

Beyond studying

Student life brings a great mix of experiences and opportunities, including taking part in sports, musical concerts, drama performances and trips.

Exceptional support

We provide a wide range of support and pastoral care for students. Welfare and wellbeing, plus our strong school values, feature in all we do.

Ready for tomorrow

We want Churston’s Sixth Form to be a springboard to wherever our young people want to go next. As well as guiding our Sixth Formers in securing the A Level grades they need, we also help with employability skills, careers advice and developing qualities to carry into adult life.

Zuzia

“During our beach clean with Churston, we came together as a community to protect our beautiful coastline. It was inspiring to see everyone pitching in, turning a simple day at school into an opportunity to care for our environment. Every piece of litter we collected was a reminder that together, we can forge a cleaner, healthier planet.”

Lucas
Year 12 Student

“Why not try everything - you never know, you might find the thing you enjoy most.”

Adam
Year 13 Student

"It is important to invest in your future self. Constantly try to improve yourself by nurturing your mind and pushing yourself, we can't become what we want to be by remaining the same."
