Absence Procedures

 ATTENDANCE

 Please remember to ring the absence line 01803 845781 every day your child is absent before 9.30am – clearly stating the reason for absence.

Ten continuous days or more of illness requires the school to be provided with either a copy of the prescription or the Medical appointment card. In extreme circumstances under the direction of the Local Education Authority, a Doctor’s Certificate may be required.

In extreme weather conditions it is important to check the school website or phone the school 01803 842289 to check if Churston is open as normal.  

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS should be notified to the school via an entry signed by the parent in the student’s school planner. Should you arrange a last minute morning appointment so your child will not be in morning registration, please leave a message on the absence line by 9.30am that day. 

HOLIDAYS should always be booked outside of school term time. If for some reason this is genuinely unavoidable, permission must be sought by completion of an Absence Request Form which is available on the School Website and from Mrs Whitford in the Main School Office. Please ensure the form is completed and forwarded to Mr Owers within at least one months notice of the absence
