GSUS Bus

Students from Churston Ferrers Grammar School were able to enjoy Spiritual and Moral Studies lessons with a difference recently. A bus specially adapted for multimedia experiences including film, music and interactive computer software enabled the students to encounter a contemporary approach to the themes of fear, rejection and forgiveness and a Christian context.

The bus (named ‘gsus live’) was provided for the week by Church groups. Many students found it fun, interesting and educational.

Daisy Wright, a student in 11T wrote the following article about her experience.

The Gsus Bus contains a large room with high tech computers and a 3D big screen. The advanced computer programme showed us the lives of three individuals Ben, Kylie and Frank, who were faced with important life decisions that we ourselves may have experienced or will experience. That faced problems to with their family, friends and bullying. We explored their lives, read about the Christian answers by reading exerts of the Bible, listening to Christian songs and watched a clip of an animated Bible story, with these in mind we gave them advice.

It taught us about fear, forgiveness and rejection in a fun and interesting way. My class received certificates showing what we had achieved and some emerged from the bus with very different views from the ones they held when they entered.

All in all we really enjoyed the experience and it taught us a lot about Christianity and our own views. We all hope that it will visit our school again soon!
