Triple Revision Sessions Science GCSE

We strongly recommend that students attend these revision sessions in order to prepare, with staff assistance, for the June examinations.

Students should bring their revision guides, paper/exercise books, pencil cases, calculator and a drink/snacks/money for snacks.

The sessions will finish before lunchtime so that the students may return home in time for lunch.

Summer uniform may now be worn.

There were five possible award levels: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Commendation and Participation. An
outstanding Gold was achieved by Ivan Slipper, Silver by both Henry Summers and Michael Lu and
Bronze has been awarded to Robyn Urdaibay and Fergus Barratt.

Roybn enthused “I was surprised, I just couldn’t believe it. I thought it was really hard so I’m very
pleased and Henry stated “I love Chemistry”.

At the beginning of April (8^th,9^th and 10^th to be precise) the school hall was again transformed into a performing arena for a major dance show.  ‘Date for a Dance’ was the third in a trilogy of productions following ‘Dance Round the World’ in 2006 and ‘Step in Time’ in 2009.

Hosted by three sixth form students (Olivia Mansfield, Oliver Perrow and Elliott Stone) the show was a journey through the year 2011.  In 46 fast moving and different routines, we recalled activities in school; local, national and international events and special calendar dates.  By using this theme, it was possible to include dances from many different styles and cultures; (New Zealand, Japan, Spain and France to name just a few) and solo, duet/trio and group dances (some with over 30 performers).  We were able to  celebrate joyous  occasions (like Christmas and New Year); we recalled exciting events such as the School’s Olympic launch and prom evenings; but there were also more poignant moments as we remembered such things as the earthquake in Japan and the death members of the Red Arrows Team during the year.

On Saturday 14^th April, Churston Ferrers Grammar  School student Amy  became the Level 6 British Champion in Gymnastics at Birmingham. Amy competed against others in the South West and qualified to represent the South West in the British Championships.

11-year old Amy who has won many competitions attends the Newton Abbot Gymnastics Club says “I am really proud of myself”.

BBC Spotlight (Tuesday May 1st) showed some Year 8-11 boys having their heads shaved in support of their friend Luca who has lost his due to chemotherapy treatment…more to follow soon
