| Chemistry
courses at AS and A2 level aim to show the ways in which Chemistry
is used in the world and the type of work chemists do. The courses
provide a rigorous treatment of Chemistry and will stimulate and challenge
a wide range of students, laying the foundation for future studies,
yet providing satisfying courses for those who do not intend to take
their study of Chemistry any further. We are pleased to be able to offer two different courses at AS and A2 level. The OCR specification A offers a traditional approach to the teaching of Chemistry, whereas the OCR Salters Chemistry offers a more applied approach to the subject, teaching theory alongside its applications to everyday life. Both courses strive to include cutting edge Chemistry; frontier areas where new and exciting developments are taking place - from fuel cells to designer polymers, from magic bullets to the latest industrial catalysts and from the control of disease through the synthesis of new agrochemicals to disease control through genetic engineering. Both courses contain ample opportunity for practical work and have a coursework component |
