The
school has been awarded £850,000 by the Learning Skills
Council.
This
means that along with the contributions from the Local Authority,
the school’s Specialist Status funding and our own
internal fund-raising efforts we have now reached the £1,900,000
target cost of the Learning Resource Centre, the refurbishment
of Science labs and the ground floor refurbishments in and
around the existing library and main office.
The
result is that we can now proceed, as planned with the full
project as outlined by Gillespie Yunnie our architect. This
has been explained to students and staff in assemblies and
Phil Yunnie has also put on an after school presentation
for interested staff and one for the School Parliament.
As
a result
•
The lawn at the front of school will be fenced off during
Half Term at which point new emergency evacuation routes
will need to be announced.
•
Contractors will be working in the building (Science re-furbishment)
and outside the building (LRC) from that date. They have
been told that they will not be able to use the staff car
parks.
•
This will be a difficult year for all of us so I would ask
for your patience and understanding as we progress with
the project. Any issues please talk through with me as they
crop up.
